Some students may require extended deadlines due to Disability Advisory and Support Service (DASS) support plans or approved mitigating circumstances. Canvas makes it easy to manage these adjustments within assignments and quizzes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    How to set custom deadlines in Canvas<\/strong><\/h2>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

    By default, assignments and quizzes in your course are set for everyone<\/em>. You can use Assign To<\/strong> to set different dates for individual students or sets of students. This method maintains privacy and avoids the need to duplicate assignments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    To set custom dates for a quiz or assignment using Assign To<\/strong>, follow these steps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    1. Select the assignment or quiz you wish to edit.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    2. Click Edit<\/strong> in the top right corner to access the settings.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    3. Scroll to the Assign<\/em> Access<\/em> area. You’ll see a field labelled Assign To<\/strong>, usually set to Everyone<\/em> by default.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    4. Click the + Assign to<\/strong> buttom to add custom dates for specific students with DASS requirements or mitigating circumstances.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    5. In the Assign To<\/strong> field, select the relevant student(s) or set(s) of students .<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    6. Set the due<\/em>, available from<\/em>, and until<\/em> dates as needed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    7. Click Save<\/strong> to apply the changes.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      Each student will only see the deadline that applies to them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
