    This guide looks at how to submit a video file for an assessment using Canvas Studio. Video files for assessment should always be uploaded to a University system (e.g Canvas Studio or the University Video Portal). Submitting links to Videos on  YouTube and Vimeo is not permitted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    IMPORTANT: <\/strong>If you are required to submit a video file and written work, then your instructor should provide separate submission inboxes for your video file and written work. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    It is not possible<\/strong> to submit both written work via the File Upload Tab and video recordings via Studio as part of the same submission.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

    Find your assignment <\/h2>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

    To find your assignment follow the steps below:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      \n
    • Open the relevant Canvas course and then open the Assignments<\/strong> menu to see a list of upcoming assignments.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Click on the relevant assignment link to open it.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Click on the Start Assignment <\/strong>button to begin the submission process.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      Upload your video to Studio<\/strong><\/h2>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

      By default your assignment submission screen will show both File upload and Studio tabs. Videos should always be uploaded to Studio<\/strong> and not to File upload<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

      To submit your video file follow the steps below:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      • Open the Studio tab<\/strong> then click the +Create Button<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Choose Add Media<\/strong> to upload an existing file. Adding media will allow you to browse files and upload an existing file or to paste in a URL link to a video.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

        • Once you have selected your file, the file upload process will begin. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • When the file has uploaded it will appear in the My Library<\/strong> window.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Next click on the video to select it and to display Embed options<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Toggle the Display Media Tabs <\/strong>to on<\/strong> (this will allow staff to add comments directly to the video when marking). You can also choose to Allow Media Download.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Next click Embed Media<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

          • You should now see a window showing the website URL for your submission. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
          • Click Submit<\/strong> assignment<\/strong> to complete your submission.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

            Check confirmation of your submission<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

            • Immediately after submitting, details of the submission date and time will display on screen. Click on the the Submission details <\/strong>link to view the file you submitted.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
            • You can return to this screen at any time by opening the assignment link.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

              How do I resubmit?<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

              • If you need to resubmit your work, open the assignment link and click on New Attempt<\/strong> and then follow the steps above to select and upload your replacement file.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
