As we prepare to move from Blackboard to Canvas, our new CLE, there will be a range of training and support available to staff. This section will take you through what training is available for staff in the Faculty of Science and Engineering will be and information on how to access it.
Teaching College – Getting Started with Canvas Guides
A series of self-directed user guides will be available to all staff online via Teaching College – Getting Started with Canvas.
The guides are all available from the left-hand side menu of this site and include topics such as building content, assignments and quizzes, marking and feedback, and Canvas Studio.
Additional guides will be developed and added to the site in due course. If you cannot find a guide for your needs, please let us know.
Canvas Clinics (Academic and Professional Services Staff)

When and where:
From April, we’ll be offering Canvas Clinics. These informal drop-in sessions will run between 10.00am and 3.00pm, across all discipline buildings, where you can bring your laptop or tablet and speak to FSE eLearning staff about Canvas. You don’t need to have any prior knowledge of Canvas. You can drop in to whichever clinic day / location is most convenient to you. If a session is busy you may need to wait until a member of staff is available.
Check out our schedule of Canvas Clinic Dates, which will also be communicated regularly via the Teaching College newsletter.
What support will be available?
FSE eLearning will provide help and guidance on using Canvas. If we cannot answer your Canvas query during the session, we will make a note of your query and offer you the opportunity to book a separate consultation session, by when we will have investigated your query further.
Canvas Consultations (Academic and Professional Services Staff)
When and where
Regular Consultations can be booked online via: Book a consultation
Canvas Consultations are your opportunity to book a dedicated 30 minute one-to-one session with a member of the FSE eLearning team. These sessions work best if you have a specific query or problem that you would like to explore.
Topic led training sessions
TLSE teams
FSE eLearning are providing a series of Canvas sessions for TLSE staff, covering the key tasks TLSE teams complete within their roles.
